Set within the Mount Royale Hotel, this Mediterranean/British restaurant sets a high standard for decent food and wine at value prices.
The Mount Royale Hotel itself is made up of two William IV-era houses built in 1833 and its location near York Racecourse on Tadcaster Road makes it popular during York Races. But all through the year the restaurant serves up good food and is worth a trip for locals and visitors alike.
The small but perfectly formed wine list would be worthy of special mention except when I visited they were out of the Barbera d’Alba I’d been looking forward to all day – luckily they had a decent, affordable alternative.
