Budget and mid-price restaurants in York

There are plenty of budget and mid-price restaurants in York, almost all of which are happy to cater for families including small children. Booking is recommended during busy times (bank holiday weekends and while York Races is on, especially during the John Smiths Cup or Ebor Festival meetings) but otherwise you should be fine to get a table in most of these York restaurants.

NB I don’t want to call these restaurants “cheap” – it suggests a lack of quality. But sometimes it’s the only way to describe how good value the food is. So please, if you see the phrase “cheap restaurant”, be assured it only refers to the prices and not to the quality of the restaurant!
